Speech and Language Therapist/Massage Therapist/Baby Massage Instructor

Harmony is a Caymanian Speech and Language Therapist, Massage Therapist and Baby Massage Instructor. A mother to three young boys, she moved back to the island six years ago after living and studying in the UK for 12 years.

Harmony graduated from Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh, with her master's degree in Speech and Language Therapy in 2018. Before that, she obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism and Communication from Middlesex University, London, followed by a master's postgraduate diploma in Psychology at London Metropolitan University. Harmony is licensed with the Cayman Islands Council for Professions Allied with Medicine and the UK Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists.

Harmony's additional qualifications include the popular Lindamood Bell's 'Seeing Stars' and 'LiPS' programmes, which focus on improving reading and spelling skills and increasing phonological awareness. These interventions have proven particularly successful in working with people with dyslexia. Harmony is also certified to run Hanen More Than Words workshops, providing strategies for parents or carers of children with autism spectrum disorder or social communication difficulties.

Harmony has worked with children and adults with learning disabilities/difficulties and further communication delays/disorders for 24 years. Her experience includes work in mainstream and special schools and colleges, clients' homes, and private clinics. She believes in a client-centred approach, assisting clients in working towards their goals in a relaxed and fun environment. Helping people reach their full communication potential is very close to Harmony's heart, and she is looking forward to bringing Speech and Language Therapy services to Align.

Harmony practices Speech and Language Therapy and is a qualified Massage Therapist, having graduated from the London College of Massage in 2013. She provides Deep Tissue, Swedish, and Indian Head Massage and will work alongside Align's existing team of Massage Therapists.

In addition, Harmony is a qualified Baby Massage Instructor. After experiencing the benefits of baby massage classes with her first two children, she studied at the Scottish School of Child and Baby Massage, providing both private and group sessions. Classes involve parents or carers learning how to massage their babies through simple, gentle and positive movements, enhancing their babies' emotional and neurological well-being and development. Benefits include improved sleep, reduced stress and crying an enhanced immune system, increased sensory awareness, colic relief, improved digestion, and weight gain for babies born preterm. The classes are a perfect bonding experience with the baby and a great opportunity to meet fellow mums, dads, or carers. Harmony is excited to bring Baby Massage to Align!
